RUNAWAY TEEN CHaLLENGE

THE "RUNAWAY TEEN CHALLENGE" --- Welcome to one of the best challenges out there... the "RUNAWAY TEEN CHALLENGE"!

[CREDIT MUST BE GIVEN: ..... A link directly to this challenge ( which should begin with: http://sims4challengesrules.blogspot.com ) must be displayed on any page you post this... even in a Youtube description. (since I have reformatted, tweaked, added Difficulty Levels to this challenge, + changed/added the point system, etc., thereby creating this new version of the Challenge).]

[ Just as you give me credit, I'm giving credit to the creators of the previous versions of this challenge. For the Sims 3 version: StardustX , + For The Sims 4 Version (without points + Difficulty Levels): @Rainydayz179

*********************************

 INTRO:

*********************************

( In This Version: I have specially created , Difficulty Levels, + points and changed a few things to either make it flow better, or make it more/less challenging where needed. )

The goal is to survive: You are simply trying to survive + start a "good" life for yourself.

You should aim for having a "high paying job" (a level 7,8,9,10), children (at least 2) and a "big house" (at least: 1 kitchen, 3 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms). The main thing you are doing is getting money the old way by fishing, gardening and collecting... oh, and of course, searching the neighborhood for free food. Getting married is optional for this challenge.

*********************************
 RUNAWAY TEEN CHALLENGE

 STARTING OUT:
*********************************
  • Make your "main" Sim. (They shouldn't look glamorous... they should look like a runaway.)

  • * You can have any traits, but not one that will help you (like "loves the outdoors") Also, Potion traits, purchased traits, other unnatural traits, or anything that changes moods unnaturally ARE NOT allowed.

  • * Start off on a lot that is 20x15 or more.

  • * Set your money to $0 (UPDATE 11/2/14) : Simply use this money cheat for Sims 4 (everything written in purple): 1st hold down the Shift Ctrl + C buttons to open up the cheat box at the top left corner of your game screen, then type:

  • Next, enter the following cheat into the box: money 0
For Specialist + Legendary Difficulty Levels Only
(seen toward the bottom of this page)...
You'll need to make your "main" Sim's baby-sister/baby-brother also at this point
. They shouldn't look glamorous... they should look like a runaway. They also shouldn't look like your "main" Sim (unless they're Twins of course) For this Sim as well, you can have any traits, but not one that will help you (like "loves the outdoors") Also, Potion traits, purchased traits, other unnatural traits, or anything that changes moods unnaturally ARE NOT allowed.].

        (Creating The Teen's Parent --- optional ) --->

You Can Choose To Skip This Section If Your Game Allows You To Simply Create Your Teen Sim {and optionally teen/child sibling}, and go to  the following section called "Rules"... please note, though, some Simmers find this Parent section to be very fun as well, even if it's unnecessary.  Others may feel it adds to the realism of this challenge....so it's your choice.
      • Make the Sim's guardian/parent however you want, it doesn't matter, so don't put too much work at all into it, since they'll have to be killed off as soon as the game begins. (The reason they need to be created at all, is that the game won't let you make a teen-only household- (UPDATE 11/2/14: this also makes it so you CAN'T simply edit them out as I stated previously before this update.)

        • You MUST kill the Sim's guardian/ parent as soon as the game starts SO HERE'S HOW --->>

(UPDATE 11/2/14): Here's the new way, the old way didn't work correctly ---> You'll have to enter this cheat which IS ALLOWED (everything written in purple) 1st hold down the Shift Ctrl + C buttons to open up the cheat box at the top left corner of your game screen, then type:

          testingcheats true

Next, enter the following cheat into the box
            sims.add_buff buff_Death_ElderExhaustion_Warning
{ Tip: Suggested by Audrey who commented below: Also, make sure you have your parent selected... You don't want to kill your teen! :o } PLEASE NOTE: You MUST SPELL IT EXACTLY AS-IS...  for example, there IS a space between "_buff" and "buff_",  and there is NO space between anything else, even  "_ElderExhaustion_"
IMPORTANT: That'll make the parent die almost immediately, however this also causes any Sims in the family to become sad. Therefore, please DO NOT count this sadness when tallying up your points at the end of the challenge.  (UPDATE   4/10/15 -- suggested by Audrey who commented below) :
Tip: To get rid of the sad moodlet, after above code is done... use:
            sims.remove_all_buffs
              *********************************
               RUNAWAY TEEN CHALLENGE

                THE RULES:
              *********************************
( Again... In This Version: I have specially created , Difficulty Levels, + points and changed a few things to either make it flow better, or make it more/less challenging where needed. ) ---
(What You MUST or ARE ALLOWED To Do)
                • Lifespan must be set to "normal" (default).
                • Aging must be on.
                • Your Sim MUST start as a teen
                • You CAN shower and use the bathroom at any public place, like the gym, for example.
                • You CAN'T go to school. You have to "cancel" the going to school action each day. This will not effect traits.
                • Yes, you MAY use the resetSim  cheat if your Sim gets "stuck" in an interaction, or somewhere around town
                •  Only If your social meter gets low...  you CAN interact with children or other teens, but NOT adults.
                • Garden pots/ Garden Planter Boxes, Easels ARE Allowed even before your Sim becomes a young adult and have a home (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath ). Those items still fit (in my opinion) within the spirit of the challenge (gardening is allowed, and painting (for money) is used something a Runaway could easily do in real life).
                 (What You CAN'T Do)
                • NO JOB until you've become a young adult and have a home (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath ) ---( you're Sim is homeless until then )
                • NO ITEMS THAT REQUIRE ELECTRICITY: You cannot have any electronics, appliances, or cell phone access (put it on silent) until you have a home (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath ).
                • You CAN'T build any kind of shelter for yourself until you have earned the Simoleans to do so, and become a young adult.
                • You CAN'T cook/shower/ect. on other peoples lots or interact with adults until you are a young adult. { Imagine that since you're a runaway they'll report you as such.}
                • Absolutely NO potions allowed
                • Potion traits, purchased traits, other unnatural traits, or anything that changes moods unnaturally ARE NOT allowed.
                • Absolutely NO ITEMS THAT changes a Sim's mood (like a mood-lamp)
                • You DON'T have to pay bills until you're a young adult and have a house.
                • You may NOT move into anyone's house.
                • You may NOT use any of the Reward Points you receive.
                • (UPDATE 11/2/14) NO Bed  (sleep on a bench) until you have a home. (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath)
                • NO Shower  + NO Toilet until you have a home. (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath) (UPDATE 5/10/15) Remember: You CAN shower and use the bathroom at any public place, like the gym, for example.
                • NO Refrigerator until you have a home. (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath)
                • (UPDATE 11/1/14) Grills ARE NOT allowed (there are grills in every neighborhood, on public lots)
                • NO Stove until you have a home.  (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath)
                • NO Candles until you have a home.  (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath)
                • NO Cheats/ NO mods except for the "Money Cheat" (Only when reducing your initial cash to 0, or deducting $10 from your funds per time you travel), "resetSim Cheat", or a  phone mod (for example: CC such as the "buyable pond" is NOT o.k.)
                • (UPDATE 11/2/14) NO Telescope until you have a home.  (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath)
                • (UPDATE 11/2/14) NO Microscope until you have a home.  (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath)
                •  Try hard NOT to interact with others unless your social meter gets low.
However, If your social meter gets low, you CAN interact with children or other teens, but NOT adults.
                • So NO phone until you have a home (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath ).  (Sims use their phone to browse the internet, play games etc., so if you see this action it must be canceled immediately.)  (side note: If you have a mod to stop the action, that's o.k, and it will be the only mod allowed in this challenge. Here's one: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=536411
Going To School:  As for the child going to school, teens DON'T HAVE TO go to school, and it appears (in all the times I've played this challenge) that the same applies to children, even after the parent is no longer present.  The Social Worker: In Sims 4, it seems that missing school doesn't make the Social Worker show up, or take children away.  However babies do seem to need to be taken care of.
                  *********************************  RUNAWAY TEEN CHALLENGE
                    PLEASE KEEP IN MIND:
                  *********************************
THINGS BECOME 100% NORMAL WHEN:  You can start working toward life goals (2kids, good job, aspiration) only when you level-up to become a young adult, and AFTER you have a home (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath ).   BUILDING a HOUSE:  You can build your 1st home (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath )  ONLY AFTER you level-up to become a young adult.
NO SCHOOL EVER:  To keep the runaway vibe of the challenge, your Sims(s) are NOT allowed to ever go to school (they've dropped out and run away). You must succeed without an education.
WHEN TO:   (ONLY AFTER YOUR SIM BECOMES A YOUNG ADULT ) -- According to the rules, UNTIL your Sim is at the very least, a Young adult, and has a home (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath ) they ARE NOT ALLOWED to do the following.... (other restrictions are, for the most part, designed to keep the spirit of the challenge):    NOT ALLOWED to have any electronics (including cell phone), buy a Bed, buy a Shower + Toilet, buy a Refrigerator, Telescope, Microscope, Stove + Candles. (UPDATE   6/7/15 -- Reminded to mention by Alex Hefel who commented below) :     HOW TO TRAVEL (when the phone can't be used)? Well... I found that you can travel by scrolling to the edge of the neighborhood, + clicking the mouse when it turns to a magnifying glass, or simply by pressing "M" on your keyboard.

                • Each time you travel, you MUST subtract $10 Simoleans from your funds. You have to purchace landscaping items totaling approximately $10, or use the Money cheat, deduct $10 from your funds per time you travel.

                   $$$ ** THE MONEY RULES ** $$$ (What You CAN'T do money-wise)
                  • You CAN'T have a part time job.... You CAN'T have a full time job until you are a young adult and have a home (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath ).
(What You ARE ALLOWED TO, or even ARE REQUIRED TO do money-wise)
                  • You CAN fish all you want, and even sell it.
                  • You CAN garden all you want, and even sell it.
                  • You CAN dig all you want, and even sell it.
                  • You CAN travel.   ----->>SO HOW DO YOU TRAVEL  (when the phone can't be used)? Well... I found that you can travel by scrolling to the edge of the neighborhood, + clicking the mouse when it turns to a magnifying glass.
                  • Each time you travel, you MUST subtract $10 Simoleans from your funds. You have to purchace landscaping items totaling approximately $10, or use the Money cheat, deduct $10 from your funds per time you travel.
VERY IMPORTANT: As New Expansion Packs, Updates, Etc. Are Released , These Rules May Make Less Sense Due To The Changes, Additions, Or Subtractions Made To The Game. Due To This Fact, You'll Need To Rely More And More On Common Sense To Help Guide What Should And Shouldn't Be Allowed or Not Allowed In This Challenge In Order To Keep In Line With The General Spirit Of The Challenge.
                    *********************************
                     FINISHING THE CHALLENGE (Goals):

Correction: You did the ElderExhaustion cheat wrong. You forgot the h in exhaustion. Also, make sure you have your parent selected... You don't want to kill your teen! :o

Tip: To get rid of the sad moodlet, use "sims.remove_all_buffs".

Can't wait to try this challenge out!

Thank you for catching that typo. Also,I added your tips to the challenge above (giving you credit, of course).

Glad you're giving this challenge a try, good luck!

I'm going to attempt this challenge. Question before I start: the main sim can't go to school... what about the child? Will he/she be taken away by the social worker if they miss too much school?

                  DecorateCheapskate.com said...

This is one of the best challenges, definitely give it a try. As for the child going to school, teens don't have to go to school, and it appears (in all the times I've played this challenge) that the same applies to children, even after the parent is no longer present.

In Sims 4, it seems that missing school doesn't make the Social Worker show up, or take children away.

Good luck with the challenge, have fun, but stay focused.

Don't forget to comment on this page after you complete it. (how did it go, etc.?)

Actually, I made a few teens so far and I didn't have to make an adult Sim with any of the teens that I made. FYI, I have the Sims 4 base game including Outdoor Retreat and Get to Work. I don't know how it is with just the base game.

So far, this challenge is awesome!

                  DecorateCheapskate.com said...

I haven't played this particular challenge in a while, so it may actually be something about the new expansion pack that allows teens to live without making an adult Sim. I hope it applies to everybody's game.

Happy to hear you're enjoying the challenge. Thanks for commenting.

Yes, playing the Guitar to get tips is O.K., I'll add it to the rules above.

How could we prevent uncomfortable moodlet if we can't have a toilet unless we have a house? By the time we make enough money to make a full house, that'd probably already be 31 uncomfortables not adding on stuff from other issues.

Truly sounds like hardmode. Good luck to anyone that does that. I'll stick to normal. I'm no pro haha just in ti for the fun. thank you for this challenge!

nevermind, didn't see the little note saying we can do it at public places.

i was looking in the "what you CAN / CAN'T do" section only. whoops! definitely do-able then

Glad to see you're gonna give this challenge a try. Even though I can see that you've already spotted the "CAN" rule about using the bathroom at any public place, I clarified it in the "CAN'T" rules, above, for everybody else.

Definitely excited to try this challenge/upload about it! There are two things I noticed that don't match my experience versus what's here that may be the effect of updates/patching:

                  1) I never had the issue of putting the elder death cheat in on a teen or other non-elder by accident. I tried a few times to be sure, and nothing happened. It only worked for me when I had an elder selected and put the cheat in.

                  2) Children can be taken away for low grades. If they spend a day or two as a F-grade student, social services pops up in the notification window warning you that your child will be taken away for neglect if their grades don't come up soon. My previous attempt before my last computer died didn't have this, so again, pretty sure it's an updated patch thing. I didn't get a notice for the teenager, though.

Are tents okay? I assume not, but if you do earn enough to go to buy the items from the camping expansion pack - does that make it alright?

Since you say a shelter/house counts as one bathroom, a kitchen, and bedroom.
What about a tent(bed) + outhouse(bath) + campfire(kitchen) (which requires gatherable food) paid for with simoleons at first?

You did say we can't build a shelter, I assume that probably means that isn't allowed since an outhouse is sort of a shelter, but not really. I don't want to spoil this for myself, so I'd better not. Seems like it may make it a bit too simple. It does feel pretty authentic.

Thank you for posting this challenge! It's my favorite by far. I'm having a lot of fun with it.

I'm guessing the answer will be no, since we can't use a grill and are supposed to be sleeping on benches/public seating. :)

Sorry about that. I sincerely apologize for the delay. I'm happy to hear you're having a lot of fun with the challenge, which brings me to the answer to your question. In order to keep the challenge fun for everybody, I simply can't change fundamental things like rules about food and shelter. Please remember that the best thing about Sims challenges is challenging yourself to play in ways that aren't exactly easy or natural (playing normally wouldn't need any challenge rules at all). I do agree that these rules may need some changes every once in a while, but just not the fundamental rules (unless it's absolutely necessary, or helps the challenge in a necessary way).

No, not until you level-up to become, at the very least, a young adult + have a home (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom.)

                  DecorateCheapskate.com said...

Great question!! I apologize for not being clear about that. (I'll clarify in the rules)

Basically, to keep the runaway vibe of the challenge, your Sims(s) are NOT allowed to ever go to school (they've dropped out and run away).

Things become 'normal' when you level-up to become a young adult, and have a home (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath ).

                  An easel IS Allowed.

NO Job until you level-up to become a young adult + have a home (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath ).

[ ONLY AFTER YOUR SIM BECOMES A YOUNG ADULT ) -- According to the rules, UNTIL your Sim is at the very least, a Young adult, and has a home (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath ) they ARE NOT ALLOWED to do the following.... (other restrictions are, for the most part, designed to keep the spirit of the challenge):

                  * have any electronics
                  * have any electronics (including cell phone)
                  * buy a Bed
                  * buy a Shower + Toilet

                  * buy a Shower

                  * buy a Refrigerator

                  * Telescope

                  * Microscope

                  * Stove

                  * Candles

                  Good luck!

After looking at the rules again carefully, I realized I made a mistake when I said that even as a Teen your Sim was allowed to do all those things. I was wrong! Your Sim should not only have a home first (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath ), but also at the very least, become a Young Adult first.

Without them becoming Young Adult first would go against them spirit of the challenge, wouldn't make any sense, and would also make the challenge not challenging at all (since anyone could just throw in a super tiny kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom, from the very beginning, just to meet requirement, and the "teen" would never really struggle in the way the challenge was intended.

I'm so sorry I made that mistake, and I hope you can understand and forgive me.

                  I apologize again,

Ps. I've updated my answer to your question (above) (to what I should have said), and also the Rules, in order to keep it from being confusing to other Simmers who play this challenge.

                  DecorateCheapskate.com said...

Sure! No problem. Those items still fit (in my opinion) within the spirit of the challenge (gardening is allowed, and painting (for money) is used something a Runaway could easily do in real life).

Some people who play this challenge may disagree, and can choose to play as strict as they like I respect that as well), but as far as I'm concerned these ARE Allowed In this particular challenge.

                  Thanks for asking,

I've been working on this challenge (I found it posted somewhere else) and I have been LOVING it!
As a Sims veteran I've been getting kind of bored of doing the same thing (sim, build skills and money with no cheats, build up a bad ass house and giant sim family) and end up with a house full of 8 rich sims and then move to the next family as I need a new challenge. So, finding this WAS A SIM-SEND! ahaha

I attacked it with much gusto (and yes you can have a teen live alone with one of the newer updates) and am really loving every moment of it.

My sim Luka is now freshly married to a very nice gal (she was a child that frequented the park he practically lived in and as soon as she aged up they began to fall for eachother), and their one bedroom home is shaping up nicely. I actually uploaded it recently in the Gallery (clarawrr is my tag there) and tagged it with #teenagerunawaychallenge.
I'm going to hold off on them having kids until I get their house bigger and their funds higher. HOWEVER I am toying with the idea of taking one of their kids and repeating the process eventually :o)

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THINKING UP THIS CHALLENGE!

I have one comment though, when the teen doesn't go to school he gets the F grade and then constantly has the uncomfortable moodlet from being a bad student. I feel like there should be some way around this because I don't think each runaway would really care if they're failing school because...ummm...they just chose to leave! haha anyways, that was one (AND PROBABLY THE ONLY) gripe I had while playing. :o)

So glad to hear you're enjoying the challenge and thank you for updating us on the progress. As for the F grade uncomfortable moodlet, I never really thought about it before (thanks for mentioning it), but I'll mention the following solution in the challenge rules (above).

Don't count the "sadness" (when tallying up your points at the end of the challenge) if the teen doesn't go to school and gets an F grade and then constantly has the uncomfortable moodlet from being a bad student.

Plus, you can get rid of the sad moodlet using this code:

                  sims.remove_all_buffs

Good luck with the rest of the challenge.

                  DecorateCheapskate.com said...

That might make the challenge a little easier (as far as needing social goes), but other than that, I don't really see why not, please keep in mind I haven't actually played like that myself though, so I hope it plays pretty much the same as when I played it.

                  Good luck with the challenge.

I love what you've written so far, and especially how creative the backstory was, and I will definitely continue to read along to see how Amy and Hannah handle their runaway experience.

Lengendary can be difficult, but please don't give up as it goes on. Not everyone can succeed, but some have, but I believe you can.

                  Good luck!

Much thanks :) It is proving difficult. I do have a question though. Once I get a house and don't have to rely on other people for food and stuff like that, does it matter how many times my sims are uncomfortable or not. Hannah will get uncomfortable when she's hungry but I have a house now and food is literally 2 feet away. Just wondering because I don't want to have to keep waking them up in the middle of the night to keep them from getting the "hungry" moodlet and getting uncomfortable. Thanks again :)

                  DecorateCheapskate.com said...

                  Hi, I definitely understand, Ariana.

As seen in the "Legendary Points" section above, one of the requirements is to manage to keep your 2 Sims "happy" the whole time (from time you start playing until they die... side note: how to avoid "uncomfortables" due to the parent dying is also in the rules above)...

...so, how many times both sims are "uncomfortable" definitely does matter because it matters for accurate scoring at the end.

The good news is once your main Sim levelsup to becomes a young adult, and has a home (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath ) ....things immediately become 100% 'normal' Sims play for the remainder of the challenge, and of course you would start working toward you Sims life goals for the challenge (ie. at least 2 kids, a good job [a level 5,6,7 in a career], and a "big house" [at least 1 kitchen, 3 bedrooms, + 2 bath ].

...so, you don't have to rely on other people for food, etc..

If you have more questions, please feel free to keep asking.

Remember, Legendary is meant to be as difficult as possible... for the very best and bravest Simmers (the "Legendary ones").

Don't worry though, you can play it again and again until you succeed. For example, I, myself, failed, the first couple of times, but I never give up.

                  Good luck again.

Okay. I thought so. I'm still under the amount of negative emotions but barely. As long as I keep watching them, I'll be okay :) Thanks.

                  DecorateCheapskate.com said...

That actually sounds great, since it means you're most-likely on track to beating the challenge (which is all that really matters anyway). I, myself, barely skimmed by on Legendary the fist time I won. Every time I've played since then, I've done better and better.

It seems to get more and more easier each time I play it. That's most-likely how it'll go for you.

I do agree...as long as I keep watching them, you'll be okay.

                  Good luck again!

                  FINISHING THE CHALLENGE (Goals):

                  The challenge is over when:

when your Sim gets a high paying job (a level 5,6,7 in a career)
when your Sim has enough to buy a "big house" (at least 1 kitchen, 3 bedrooms, + 2 bath )
when your Sim has (at least 2 kids)
when your Sim survives the challenge while abiding by the rules

                  It should read as follows:

                  "The challenge is over when:

when your Sim gets a "high paying job" (a level 7,8,9,10)

                  DecorateCheapskate.com said...

                  Hi Macthekat,

I apologize for the confusion. Thank you sincerely for pointing it out. Looking over this challenge I did see where some things could be easily missed, so I took a little time to try to clarify the important sections using highlights and bigger text. By the way, as for what you specifically asked, it was in the section called "Please Keep In Mind" and it said: "Things Become 100% 'Normal', and you can start working toward life goals (2kids, good job, aspiration) only when you level-up to become a young adult, and have a home (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath )"

Again, I can now see how that could be confusing, so I added a subtitle called "Building A House" and even clarified that you can build your 1st home (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bedroom, + 1 bath ) Only After you level-up to become a young adult.

Also, If you have any other questions, please ask, I'll always try to answer the best I can.

                  Hi,

I'm glad you're giving this challenge a try. Since you're new to the sims 4, here are some tips that'll help you feed your Sim for free until they're allowed to buy their own house (...owning a house instuctions in the rules above).

                  Finding Free Food:

                  (1) You can garden (crops can be eaten as is),

                  (2) You can fish...

and cook them using the on grills (there are grills in every neighborhood, on public lots)

                  (3) You can eat uneaten food...

left behind by others anywher you can find it (for example any community public are, such as a park, has food because some Sims somewhere are always eating... and tend to leave their food unattended.... you guessed it, that's your opportunity to fill your Sims stomach... until their hungry again.

quick picnic type of meals and drinks inside

Hi! I'm joining your challenge :) I wanna ask questions 1) If I wanna visit a place, for example from gym to museum which is still in one location/area, Is it still called as traveling? and should i substract my money?

                  2) I'm playing in normal mode. Is my sim allowed to eat food from grill cooked by other sim?

                  Thank you :)

This game is fun, but i have to start over because my teen sim got caught by adult when she tried to steal someone else's food from refrigerator. I know i break rules here because i forgot the rules hahaha. His expression was hillarious!!:))

Thank you Yasyfinoo for playing my challenge.

                  As for your questions:

                  1) No. "Traveling" in this case would be, for example, going from one neighborhood to another. (Clue: if your screen starts loading when you go to a place, then you're most likely "traveling"). On the other hand, if you can possibly get there just by walking to that place, like from gym to museum, or house to gym, then that's not what's meant by "traveling".

2)Yes. A sim is allowed to eat food from a grill cooked by other sims. That's actually one of the great strategies I mentioned in the answer to the question above this one.

I'm so glad you're having fun playing this challenge. If you have any other questions while playing, please leave a comment here again.

Also, don't forget to try the other challenges I have here on this blog. I'm proud to say I've tweaked each of them for added fun.

---> I highly recommend your next one be the "Living Off the Grid Challenge".... I personally created that one from scratch, and it's similar (in some ways) to this one.

                  Hope this helps,
                  good luck!
